China and Brazil to Cooperate on GIS Research

Very Spatial links to a tiny press release about China-Brazil cooperation on cartography and GIS. From the tiny PR: "The accord is aimed at improving both sides' cartography and Geographic Information Systems (GIS), as well as their environmental monitoring techniques and research."

The Earth is Square runs two stories regarding NASA World Wind. The first one is about a new 3D brazilian virtual globe built over NWW code: "The free portal now has a 2.700 Brazilian cities with street level and geocoding searches. We also support routes in 600 Brazilian cities and the end of 2007 holds up to 400 Brazilian cities with ortho imagery." The second story is a java satellite tracker built on NWW Java: "This application allows you to predict the position of any satellite in real time or in the past or future. It uses advanced SGP4/SDP4 algorithms developed by NASA/NORAD to propogate the satellite orbits." This previous story will tell about other such software.
